Anonymous asked: ive been encouraged to take prenatal vitamins to make my hair grow longer/faster, have you ever done that? and how will this effect my uterine development?
As someone who wears her hair up almost exclusively, I pay little attention to its length, and have never done anything to expedite hair growth. However, I think those effects of prenatals are a misconception. Pregnant women claim longer, lustrous hair because their bodies produce a hormone which is responsible for that (I’m guessing it’s the female hormone progesterone, but I haven’t researched it). That they are taking prenatals at the time is incidental. As far as uterine development is concerned, well… I use progesterone to combat excessive estrogen which exacerbates my cyst-ridden ovaries, but you’re a boy, so you shouldn’t worry about how anything affects your uterus :) I’ve always presumed the pace at which one’s hair grows was innate, or perhaps related to the nature or texture of the hair, which could be largely illusory. All I know is my mother used to have my hair periodically trimmed to “keep it growing”, which is nonsensical! Hair grows from the follicle, not the tip. The hair on your scalp has no idea what’s going on down at the tip, whether things are damaged or not. It’s not like they look down and say, “Oh, shit, there’s some breakage down there, everyone stop pushing ‘til the clog is sheared away!” Anyone who has any tips about hair growth is welcome to interject. Otherwise, I’m afraid patience is the only applicable virtue :/
